Year two
John is back at school. Year one, EVERYONE accompanies the college-bound kid to school to help with the move-in process. Year two is a wave and a "send me a picture of the room". Independence is important. We got a picture of the room. All is well.

Looks too neat.

Looks impressive and neat. It's similar to the rooms my kids had. Of course, if my recollection is accurate, my parents dropped me off with a few shirts, a dictionary, and a guide on how to cook wild game.

You had to gather your own fire-starting implements?

Now that you mention it, I do recall being given a flint along with the advice, "Fire good."
